Finding Purpose in a Connected World: A New Antioch Christian Fellowship Blog
In a world that’s constantly changing, driven by astonishing leaps in technology, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. From the tiniest semiconductors that power our smartphones to the complex software that connects us to friends and family across the globe, our lives are more intertwined with technology than ever before. It’s a landscape of constant evolution, where the future is arriving faster than we can imagine.
New Antioch Christian Fellowship believes that even amidst this rapid change, our core purpose remains a constant. Our mission is to help people meet Jesus, change their lives, and find their purpose. This isn't just a mission for the physical space of our church; it's a mission for our digital lives, our homes, and our communities. As we see the rise of sensors and connected devices that help us track our health and well-being, we're reminded of the importance of spiritual health as well—caring for our bodies and our souls.
Technology, for all its power, is simply a tool. It has the potential to bring people closer, much like our online services on Facebook Live, allowing us to worship together even when we can't be in the same room. It can also be a source of distraction. The same innovations that bring us new devices and enhanced communication also challenge us to be intentional about how we use our time and energy.
As industries explore the possibilities of robotics and automation to improve efficiency, we as a community must ask ourselves: what is the unique, irreplaceable value of human connection? What is our purpose beyond efficiency? The answer lies in the relationships we build, the empathy we show, and the love we share. Our weekly community groups—for adults, children, and teens—are designed to foster this kind of genuine connection, creating a space where we can support each other, grow together, and find our footing in a world that never stops moving.
The "But Wait!" sermon by Pastor Sharonda Manor-Foster reminds us to pause and reflect. In a high-tech, fast-paced society, pausing is a revolutionary act. It’s a chance to recenter ourselves on what truly matters. At New Antioch, we’re not just spectators of the future; we are active participants, shaping a community that is grounded in faith and ready to embrace a world where technology and humanity can thrive together. Join us as we navigate this new era with purpose, hope, and unwavering faith.
