John 13:34–35
Jesus’ final instructions to His disciples were not about strategy or structure. They were about love.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
A New Standard for Love
Jesus calls this a new commandment because He raises the standard. We are called to love others the way He loves us—sacrificially, consistently, and without conditions.
This kind of love goes beyond words. It shows up in how we treat one another and how we care for our community.
Love Is Our Witness
Jesus makes it clear: love is how the world recognizes His followers. Not by our buildings, programs, or arguments—but by how we love.
When the church loves well, people see Jesus.
Love That Shows Up
Biblical love is active and visible. It listens. It serves. It stands with others. It reaches beyond comfort and convenience to meet real needs.
This is love that reflects Christ.
Living as His Disciples
John 13:34–35 challenges us to ask:
Do our relationships reflect Christ’s love?
Does our church feel welcoming and inclusive?
Can people see Jesus in the way we live and serve?
As followers of Christ, we are called to be known by our love.
May our love be visible. May our love be faithful. May our love point people to Jesus.
